How do I do it? What does it mean?

Birchman Baptist Church is a body of believers united by our desire to follow Jesus Christ and committed to fulfilling the purposes set forth in our Mission Statement, which is Matt 28, commonly referred to as The Great Commission. If you desire to join with us and will be supportive of the beliefs, fellowship and mission of our church, we warmly invite you to become a member. Here are the three steps to becoming a member:

Present yourself for membership during any Sunday Worship Celebration when the invitation to commitment is given at the end of the message. Our pastor will invite those who desire to become members of Birchman to come to the front of the worship center. A minister will greet you and introduce you to a counselor who will assist you in your decision.
Express your desire for membership through one of the following means:

  • Profession of faith If you have never received Jesus as Savior and Lord and/or never publicly confessed Him, you will be given an opportunity to do so. After your decision has been confirmed, an appointment will be made for your baptism at Birchman. Transfer of membership from another Southern Baptist church If you are currently a member of another Southern Baptist church, we will receive you as a member upon promise of a letter from that church. Birchman will contact that church to notify them of your decision and request your letter.
  • Statement of faith If you know in your heart that you have previously experienced salvation by receiving Jesus as Savior and Lord, we will be happy to receive you. It will be necessary for you to be baptized at Birchman if you have never been baptized by immersion after your salvation experience or if you were baptized in a church which holds a different view of salvation, baptism or eternal security than Birchman.
  • Attend the Discover Birchman class for new members. Whether you’re a new member, longtimer BBCer or curious guest, this special orientation class gives you essential information to help you become a fulfilled, functioning member of our church. Led by Pastor Bob Pearle and David Hain, this class will help you begin charting out a plan for your first year at Birchman. Discover Birchman will also provide an understanding of our church beliefs and vision. And, this class will show you how to begin building relationships in our church and will help you understand all the benefits and responsibilities of membership. Discover Birchman is a two-session series, offered the first and second Wednesday of most every month. Call the Birchman offices to set your reservations.

After you’ve completed these steps, we will joyfully receive you as a member of Birchman Baptist Church and you will begin to fully enjoy the benefits and blessings of being a part of our family of friends.
